There’s a long list of great female soccer players to come after Mia Hamm, but no one can take her place as one of the greatest ever. Hamm helped lead the US women’s team to three Olympic Finals, winning two out of three.
She is credited with inspiring thousands of girls to start playing soccer, and perhaps even inspired some of the women who represent the USA today. She won two Olympic golds and two World Championships before she retired in 2004.
