This Russian long jumper is a natural born athlete, and actually got her start as a volleyball player. Darya fell in love with the sport at the age of 13, but blessed with tall height (5’11) she quickly realized she could excel even more at long jumping.
Her decision to switch from volleyball to athletics was also highly influenced by her father, himself a former athlete. In 2016 Darya was picked to compete in the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, and that’s just one of her many athletic achievements.
