Carlton Fisk donned the catcher’s gear until he was 45 years old, playing 24 seasons in the league. Fisk spent the second half of his career with the Chicago White Sox, and six of those seasons were after his 40th birthday. During those seasons he hit 72 home runs, 282 RBI, 473 H and 205 R. When he finally did retire, he led the league in games caught and home runs hit by a catcher. His no. 27 jersey was retired by the Boston Red Sox in 2000, seven years after he retired.
