Gourdon suggests that the workers would have placed the stone block from the quarry onto a sled, and attached a large number of ropes to this sled. The slaves and workers would have been able to grab hold of these ropes and pull the rocks up the ramp and up the gradient.

Although it would still have been extremely heavy for those involved, the sled and the ramp would have given the workers some respite from carrying such large and heavy blocks of stone. However, this is just another theory to add to the pile.
