Located on the west bank of the River Nile are the famous Great Pyramids of Giza. These three pyramids stand relatively close together and are known for being incredibly well preserved – even after thousands of years. The largest and oldest of the three pyramids is what’s known as the Great Pyramid, but it’s fair to say that this structure has always been shrouded in mystery.

While it’s common knowledge that this pyramid was built for Khufu, the popular Pharoah, information surrounding the size and grandeur of his pyramid is not known. Khufu ruled over his kingdom for 23 years, which isn’t too extraordinary in Ancient Egyptian terms. So, what was so special about Khufu to warrant such an extravagant resting place?
