Back in 2015, Brutus Buckeye celebrated his 50th birthday. Brutus is the embodiment of a buckeye, which is a small brown nut with a light patch (just look at Brutus’ face to see an explanation for that). There was a contest to name the Buckeye, and so the name Brutus came about. His look has changed over the years, and his modern costume dates back to 1981. Brutus is a fan favorite, doing pushups when the team scores a touchdown, head stands on the field and fighting with other mascots.
