Mr. Met is the oldest “living” mascots in Major League Baseball, making his debut in 1963 when the Mets were still playing at the Polo Grounds. In 1964 he was named rookie of the year for being the first live-action mascot. Mr. Met has even travelled overseas, becoming the first mascot to do so in 2000, when he flew to Japan. He may have no voice, but he definitely knows how to get the crowd going. He even uses social media to spread his messages, and is known to get a little feisty on his twitter accounts. No one is safe, not even the Mets.
