[post_page_title]A star on the rise[/post_page_title]
The last decade has been an interesting one for Ryan Lochte. After winning two gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, people began paying attention to him. Fast forward four years to the London 2012 Games and his star was only shining brighter. The swimmer walked away with five medals that year, adding another two golds to his collection.
Although the world seemed to be obsessed with Michael Phelps, Lochte was beginning to get the recognition that he deserved. While he didn’t stand a chance of equaling his teammate’s record of eight gold medals at a single Olympic Games, he was at least proving his worth in the pool. Unfortunately, as his celebrity status rose, several controversial decisions threatened to derail his career forever.
