[post_page_title]Beware square waves[/post_page_title]
Okay, is this photoshopped? It has to be photoshopped. Turns out it’s not. Not only is it not photoshopped, in fact, but it happens consistently in certain areas, such as the French Île de Ré. What we see here is “cross sea,” or two wave systems running into each other.
Basically, when one of the systems continues despite the wind shifting, you get these square waves. If you want to admire them, however, do it from the shore! Underneath the surface are very strong currents that could easily carry you out to sea.
