Everyone loves a good nickname. In the world of sports, good nicknames are part of the package. Such is especially the case with Matt Martin, referred by some as the “Enforcer”, or the “Grinder”. Wow, not one, but two nicknames! But his nicknames are well deserved – he has a strong reputation around the league that relates almost exclusively to his checking abilities – or in non-hockey terms, “bashing” or “hitting” abilities. He is a force to be reckoned with when anyone attempts to bring the puck up the rink.
