[post_page_title]Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother[/post_page_title]
Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, or The Queen Mother as she was later known, was one of the first to set the stage with a sapphire ring. George VI chose a jewel that was accompanied by diamond accents on either side.

The band was made from Welsh gold and was a huge statement to the rest of the world. Although The Queen Mother wore the ring for many years, she later swapped out her engagement ring for one made from a large pearl encased in diamonds instead.
