Reeves wasn’t convinced playing Superman would launch him into the A-list bracket he was hoping for, but he tried his best to enjoy the role. There must have been something that kept him coming back as Reeves continued playing Clark Kent from 1951 all the way through until 1958.
With few other alternatives, Reeves suited up and took on his new persona. The actor portrayed Superman for six seasons but ultimately quit the role just months before his passing. It hadn’t turned him into a superstar, and perhaps that was due to the fact he was ‘slumming’ it on television when he wanted to be in movies. While his career hadn’t been going how he’d have liked, something else worried him.
