Tyler actually played baseball earlier in his career, much like his character Martin Brewer on the show. He played for Arizona State University and his team went to the College World Series. After pulling a hamstring, however, he was limited in practicing, and started going to auditions instead.
After 7th Heaven, he was in small roles like CSI: Miami and My Boys, until he joined the cast of Teen Wolf as Derek Hale. He was most recently seen in the show Batwoman and in the movie Fifty Shades Freed.
