Airbnb host Cory Tschogl, who lives in San Francisco, rents out her Palm Springs condominium on the service. She took a 44-day booking to a man who identified himself as Maksym.
On the rental’s second day, he demanded a refund for odd reasons (like “cloudy” tap water), but technical problems stalled resolving the matter. This led Maksym to decide he was going to stay in her property, and bizarrely – the law is on his side, as California state regulations state that after 30 days a person is considered a tenant and cannot be evicted.
