Catherine Lloyd Burns played Malcolm’s dedicated and pregnant teacher, Caroline Miller for the first and second season. After giving birth, Miller went on maternity leave and did not return for the third season.

Following her role on the series, she ended up taking on some smaller parts in a few low-budget films before ultimately taking a break from acting altogether. However, in 2016 she came back to the screen to play Linda Witherbottom in the TBS crime-comedy Search Party. Besides acting, Burns is also a writer with three published books under her belt.
