In the UK, swans are considered precious animals that should be looked after with the utmost respect – hence why it is legal to hunt most game, including pheasants, ducks, and turkeys, but the hunting of swans is illegal.
In fact, all wild swans in the UK are legally owned by Her Majesty. This means that although it’s illegal to hunt a swan, the Queen, however, is allowed to cook and eat one if she wants to. Anyone for baked swan? Yum.
