The more recent film depicts the life of baseball trailblazer Jackie Robinson. In the movie, Robinson, a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers, is hit in the head by a pitch during a game in 1947. Robinson was hit by a pitch that season by a pitch thrown by Pirates pitcher Fritz Ostermueller, but he wasn’t hit in the head as the movie shows. In fact, the depiction has even irked Ostermueller’s family, and his daughter has said that her father was misrepresented in the film.
