The best football leagues in the world

All over the world, soccer is the most popular sport, and it’s even getting a larger following in the United States. Most people in the world know soccer as football, and these are the best countries to watch the planet’s favorite sport.

Ligue 1 – France

France are the holders of the World Cup, and the country produces some of the finest soccer stars on the planet. They don’t always hang around in Ligue 1 however, and many of the best French players can be found in other leagues across Europe. That doesn’t mean Ligue 1 is not good though, and with teams such as PSG, Lyon, Monaco, and Marseille it’s always competitive.
PSG are super-rich and can afford to bring the world’s stars to their roster, including big names such as Neymar, Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria. While it’s a bit of a one-team league, some of the best up-and-coming French players can be found all over Ligue 1.

Serie A – Italy

Italian soccer was once the best in the world, but over the past 20 years, that title has slipped from its grasp. The Italian league, Serie A, still has some of the biggest names in soccer though. Global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo plays for the champions, Juventus, but classic teams such as Napoli, Inter Milan, and AC Milan remain important. The speed of play in Italy is a little slower than most other countries, and it’s the perfect league to watch if you love tactics.

The Bundesliga – Germany

If you like your soccer to be non-stop action, then the German Bundesliga is your best bet. The Bundesliga is often dominated by one team in particular, Bayern Munich.
German teams combine skill with power and athleticism which means the games can be exhilarating. Typically the favorites win, but competition is always fierce, and the best teams in the league have to perform well to seal a victory.

La Liga – Spain

La Liga in Spain is home to arguably the two biggest soccer teams in the world. Typically the league title is fought out between Real Madrid and Barcelona, but recently Atletico Madrid has added their name into the mix. The most skillful players are found here, with perhaps the greatest player to have ever lived calling the league his home, Lionel Messi. Games can be slow but then in the blink of an eye explode into life in La Liga.

The Premier League – England

There is a debate about which league is better, La Liga or the English Premier League. The Premier League is arguably the toughest league for teams to win in as anyone can beat anyone. While there tends to be a few favorites, typically the best teams in the league will suffer more than one shock defeat in a season.
The league is also one of the most supported in the world, and the non-stop action keeps people coming back for more. Soccer giants such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea have been fighting it out for glory for decades in the Premier League.
These are the best soccer leagues in the world because they are where the best players are at. That makes some of the teams very exciting to watch, and there is so much soccer played between these leagues there’s a great game to watch almost every week.
