We have a serious question for you – when you sit down on your couch to watch the Winter Olympics, what is your favorite sport to watch? Is it Alpine skiing, a sport where competitive speedsters race each other down the long and winding turbulent mountain path? Or perhaps it’s snowboarding, a sport where the freestyle punks just love to express themselves with all of the wacky moves they can muster five feet above a halfpipe.
What about curling? We know you’ve heard about it before – it’s the sport where ice skaters slide stones down the ice, trying to hit a target while at the same using brooms to sweep the floor in order to reduce traction and make the stones go further. If it is sounds complicated to you, you’re not alone. That being said, it looks like the mysterious sport of curling is finally about to become huge, and the reason is one 25-year-old girl – Anastasia Bryzgalova.
Anastasia is a professional curler who has been competing in the sport for much of her life, and even competed recently in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, where she won a bronze medal. Ever since she graced our screens in the 2018 Olympics she has been taking the media by storm, and people all of the sudden love the sport of curling. While this medal she won is certainly an impressive achievement, there is another reason that she has made the sport so popular. People just think she’s incredibly good looking.
As superficial as that sounds, you cannot deny that they have a point. Her eyes gleam out at you like they might as well have been placed in an Oscar-winning film – in fact, some people have gone so far as to say that she looks like Angelina Jolie, the notable Hollywood actress. Americans watching the recent Olympics even wrote on Twitter that while their allegiance remains for Team USA, they have a strong affinity for the Russian “model” on the curling stage.
But not everyone is very happy with the way people are putting such a strong focus on the external beauty of this young woman – and Anastasia herself is one of them. You might think that after accomplishing a feat such as winning an Olympic medal, people may actually talk about her athletic accomplishments, but some people refuse to do so. And it’s a shame, because Anastasia is a very well rounded and sweet individual, which you will soon see. She is passionate but relaxed, cool but nerdy, disciplined and yet oh so fun.
