The manager suggested that many people had made their way into the Staples store in the past and shoplifted using such a bump. They would wander around the store and hide items in their clothes, or push them under their shirt and around their stomach in an attempt to make themselves look like they were pregnant.
It had happened in their store on numerous occasions, and they felt as though it was their duty to protect their store from thievery at all times. By calling the cops, they felt as though they were maintaining this duty.
