First taking small parts in her mom’s opera productions, she later went on to study drama at East Carolina University. After graduation, she moved to New York City and did what countless actors before her did – work odd jobs and hoped for her big break. She worked as a bartender, cocktail waitress, and even coat checker.
Bit parts in made-for-TV movies followed, and she even got a starring role in a sitcom – NBC’s Working Girl, which lasted all of eight episodes. It was all just spinning her wheels, until she finally landed a meaty role. Playing the love interest in 1992 romantic comedy Love Potion No. 9, Bullock had finally found success – and the first love of her life.
