Today, many of the famous structures that can be traced back to the Maya people can be found deep in the jungle. They were once the epicenter of Maya civilization, but as the people spread across the globe and their infrastructures collapsed under the Spanish conquest, their pyramids and their cities were lost to the trees and the fauna.

Since then, thousands of Maya structures have been dug up from the ground and investigated by those who have dedicated their lives to this ancient era. From this, we have been able to learn more about the way that these Maya people lived their lives and how they spent their day-to-day existence. Experts have done this through traditional excavations, but in recent years, they have also utilized new and improved technology.
