At first, no-one really knew why the pair were separating, apart from the duo themselves. However, reports that someone had cheated starting making the rounds, although that wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. That’s pretty much the norm when a marriage breaks down, especially when it’s a celebrity one. Rather than get involved with all the drama, though, Miranda decided to throw herself into her work.

Letting it all out

Her latest album – Platinum – had peaked at number one just a year earlier, and she didn’t want to lose her momentum. Besides, writing songs proved to be a great way to work through all the emotions her separation had stirred up. The day she announced her split was the same day she wrote Vice, a number two hit on the US country charts that currently stands as one of her biggest-selling singles. Writing music was evidently an excellent form of therapy.
