These NFL legends were never crowned champions

In 1989, Carter was cut from the Philadelphia Eagles after catching 45 passes and 11 touchdowns. He would later admit to drug use and that his life was spinning out of control, saying being released was what he needed to help straighten out his life. And boy did he. Carter went on to become the Minnesota Viking’s top receiver. Carter and the Vikings made eight playoff appearances in the 1990s and the year 2000. In 1998 they drafted Randy Moss, and the two would go on to become the best receiving duo in the country. But even that wasn’t enough, and even though Minnesota would make it to the playoffs, they never got past the conference championships. Carter finished his career with 1,101 receptions for 13,899 yards (13th on the all time list) and 130 touchdowns.
