SOLD: The most expensive sports memorabilia to be auctioned off

[post_page_title]Babe Ruth Red Sox contract[/post_page_title]
In 2014, nearly a decade after it was signed, Babe Ruth’s 1918 contract with the Boston Red Sox was sold for $1.02 million, more than 200 times more than the contract was actually worth. Back then, Ruth’s contract was worth $5,000. It was signed by Ruth, AL president Ban Johnson and then-Red Sox owner Harry Frazee, who a year later would sell Ruth to the New York Yankees (biggest mistake of his life). The buyer asked to remain anonymous.
