In 2012, Babe Ruth’s jersey sold for over $4.4 million, making it the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia ever sold. The jersey was reportedly the earliest NY jersey worn by The Bambino, during the 1920 season, when he hit .376/.532/.847 with 158 runs and 54 home runs. The jersey itself is a grey jersey, with New York written across the chest and Ruth’s initials handwritten on the collar. It was sold to Lelands.com.
