SOLD: The most expensive sports memorabilia to be auctioned off

[post_page_title]Babe Ruth World Series bat from 1918[/post_page_title]
The bat Babe Ruth used during the 1918 World Series, the Boston Red Sox last championship before the curse, fetched $537,750 during a sports memorabilia auction in 2009. The bat itself is a Hillerich & Bradsby bat that is said to model other bats Ruth would use later in his career. That season, Ruth’s fourth in the majors, he played in 95 games for the Sox, scoring 50 runs, with 95 hits and 11 home runs. That following year he would more than double his home runs, scoring 29, before being traded to New York.
