Shoeless Joe Jackson’s famed bat, Black Betsy, sold via eBay for $577,610. The online auction lasted ten days, and included only two bidders. One of the bidders only entered the picture with five minutes left on the clock. Rob Mitchell, the 30-year-old businessman winner of the auction, was surprised by the bargain price, while the seller was reportedly disappointed it didn’t fetch more. Lester Erwin, the seller, had inherited the bat from Jackson’s widow back in 1959.
