If there is one thing you are sure to see at one of Brazil’s many carnivals, it’s people doing the samba. The dance goes hand in hand with the celebrations. However, that wasn’t always the case. The dance actually originated in Africa.

Many would use traditional drums as the beat and brought it over to Brazil. Here, locals in Rio de Janeiro put more rhythm to the music and gave birth to samba music. It wasn’t long before the dance continued to evolve into the steps we know today.
