It’s not easy being a gymnast. The amount of training it takes to make your body bend, twist, and stretch into the positions you want it to is monumental. If you’re not flexible, then you don’t stand a chance at the sport, although it takes more than just that to become a champion. You have to be strong, agile and have great coordination skills. It’s no good trying to do tricks on a balance beam or cartwheels across the floor if you’re not in-tune with your body. One hand or foot in the wrong place can lead to disaster.
Injuries are prevalent in gymnastics, just as they are in most sports, and Katelyn Ohashi knows that exceptionally well. She’s experienced more than her fair share of pain throughout her gymnastics career, but she’s never given up on her passion. She loves what she does more than anything, and she has no plans to hang up her leotard anytime soon.
That’s no surprise given she continues to perform flawless routines that take the internet by storm.

Gymnastic competitions are an excellent opportunity for athletes to show off what they can do with their bodies. Those weeks and months of training all lead up to that one performance where they can either sink or swim, and surprises are almost always assured.
Sometimes people fail in the worst possible way, but other times they excel to a level you never thought possible. The latter is what Katelyn Ohashi did when she competed at the Collegiate Challenge in January 2019.
