Their tour of Australasia coincided with the announcement that the newlyweds were expecting their first child. Many of the people they met on their travels congratulated the pair by offering them presents for the baby, including the Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove. He and his wife gifted the couple with a cuddly kangaroo toy and a tiny pair of Ugg boots.
