The rumors all started when Prince Phillip went backstage into Kirkwood’s dressing room, at a time in which she was performing in the musical Starlight Roof. After they conversed, they dined out at Les Ambassadeurs Club, where they were apparently drinking, dancing and laughing all night long.
It was this night that was said to have started their affair. So did they deny the rumors? Kirkwood herself was very vocal in her denial of the affair, insisting that they only met twice and it was a strictly platonic relationship.
