[post_page_title]Christine Jia Xin Lee[/post_page_title]
The girl caught up in this unbelievable incident was 21-year-old Christine Jia Xin Lee. The Malaysian native was just like any regular student, heading to Australia for a good education to try to better herself. Christine was studying chemical engineering at the University of Sydney, and we’re sure she had big plans for the future.
In many ways, Christine was just like any ordinary girl attending college, but she probably wouldn’t have expected life to unfold the way it did. She had no idea that she would wake up one day and be a millionaire – but that’s exactly what happened! In June 2014, she woke up and checked her bank account to find a few extra zeros in there. How had this happened?
[post_page_title]Getting an education[/post_page_title]
Just like many young people, Christine had decided at a young age that she wanted to get a good education for herself. This could have been as a result of her upbringing and background, but whatever the reasons, she was clearly serious about working hard for her grades. Choosing to study chemical engineering at a respectable college like the University of Sydney showed that Christine clearly had a thirst for knowledge, and was keen to learn more.
However, being an international student wasn’t easy. There are a lot of factors that can play a part in living somewhere new and trying to fit in. There are language barriers, as well as trying to get used to a new country and a new way of doing things. The cultural differences would probably have been very difficult for Christine, and it must have been a shock.
