It looks as though there is no end to the Sidney Poitier’s list of achievements from over the years. For ten years, Sidney was the Bahamian ambassador to Japan, as well as working alongside many humanitarian and social causes during his time as a star.
To top it off, Sidney was the first black actor to walk away with a Golden Globe and Academy Award after starring in the drama movie Lilies of the Field back in 1963. After a short career as a director, Sidney has since retired from the spotlight.
