Zoo enraged by ‘disrespect’ of visitors who scratched names into a rhino’s back

Spokespeople for the Zoo de la Palmyre were quick to condemn the behavior from their visitors in a social media post of their own. Although they were outraged by the “disrespect” shown to their animal, the zoo admitted that there would be no legal action undertaken by them. The zoo’s director, Pierre Caille, said that Camille and Julien used their nails to write on the layer of clay, dust and flaky skin on the rhino’s back. Caille said that the rhino might not have even felt the scratches.
