With a new century just around the corner, and in the midst of retirement number two, Michael Jordan was named the Athlete of the Century by ESPN. The network surveyed members of the media, other athletes and associations to rank the top athletes of the 20th century, and Jordan was at the top of the list, beating out legends such as Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali, who came in second and third respectively. Jim Brown and Wayne Gretzky rounded out the top five.
