Born in San Francisco, Hope Cooke would go on to become a Queen halfway across the globe. On a summer trip to India, while studying at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, Hope met the Indian Royal Prince of Sikkim, Palden Thondup Namgyal.

The two married just two years later, and Hope soon became Queen of Sikkim. They had two children together. However, their marriage was far from perfect, with alleged affairs taking place on both sides of the relationship. They eventually divorced in 1980 and Hope moved back to NYC.
