Nursing the fawn back to full health would take a while, but the first thing Sasnauskas had to concentrate on was tending to the animal’s injury.

He used an oatmeal box to create a splint for the fawn which he attached to her leg. This helped to keep her upright and ensure that her leg healed properly, meaning he’d be able to return her to the wild sooner rather than later. Now, he just had to give her the same level of care that she’d have expected from her mother.
