It was a hard road getting there, however. And perhaps the hardest part of that journey was for her to learn to love herself. She talked about how terrifying it is to make yourself vulnerable – to open up to the world is to invite it to judge you – and the expectations others, and ourselves, have of us are often unrealistic.
Society has created these molds, she added, about what “beautiful” or “strong” looks like, and we feel bad if we can’t fit into any of them.
