As previously noted, Lonzo eventually got drafted by the L.A. Lakers, much to the excitement of many Angelino residents. Magic Johnson, the NBA legend and current President of the Lakers’ basketball operations was one of the driving forces behind this choice. In fact, him and Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka went to go visit Lonzo at his house when they were wondering if he was the right choice. They wanted to know what the Ball family was like beyond all the negative noise that surrounded their family at the time.
