Years and years passed of Diana’s project. The wonderfully insightful photographs she had taken over the years were piling up. She was finally starting to idealize the final stages of the project – she wanted to call it “The Homeless Paradise.” In 2012, nearly a decade after she started the project, there was one particular day that Diana went out with her camera which was going to change her life forever.

A recognizable face

On that day she was on the streets of Honolulu. It was a place she often visited, and so she had already met some of the homeless people that resided there. She saw a man in the distance and decided to head over to talk to him. He looked like he had been sleeping rough for a long time. His clothes were tattered, and his skin was dirty. He looked sad. He looked confused.
