The pressure of standing on pointe can cause nails that are too short to become in-grown, and you really don’t want that, so dancers simply let them grow wild. But here’s the kicker, quite literally – dancers have to let calluses form on their feet, and don’t do anything to treat them because it actually protects them from punishment.
