But those rumors were quickly squashed by then-Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria, who said the rumors simply weren’t true. While reports said the Jeter-led group had been further along in the sale process than anyone else, a new group popped up on the radar, led by Tagg Romney. The following month, Jeb Bush withdrew himself from Jeter’s group. So were they buying the Marlins?
