What teenage boy doesn’t want to become a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs? That’s what happens to Henry Rowengartner, who lives every boy’s dream. Obviously, this can’t really happen. But it’s not the only thing in the movie that can’t really happen. Rowengartner uses some tricks, including the hidden ball trick. He pretends to get ready to pitch while holding only the rosin bag in his glove. Pitchers aren’t allowed to do that, they cannot stand on the rubber without holding the ball. So in real life, Henry would have been called for a balk. But thankfully for Henry and the viewers, this isn’t real life.
