Somehow Clark Kent and Superman are never discovered by the general public to be the same person, despite the best efforts of the Daily Planet. The Planet even runs the story of their passing on the same day, and no one seems to put two and two together.

People can’t seem to see the similarities between the two, they even pass away on the same day, and it’s still not clear. Maybe those people weren’t worth all the effort Superman put into saving them anyway!
