Despite the ‘Lord of the Rings’ and the ‘Hobbit’ sagas being written over forty years ago, fantasy author J.R.R Tolkien’s postmortem success has seen his estate amass a wealth of over $50 million, according to Forbes.
This is primarily due to the movie adaptations of his series, such as the Hollywood attention following the announcement of ‘The Hobbit’ being in preproduction in New Zealand in 2010 saw the book selling just under 500,000 copies that year.
