It didn’t come as a massive surprise that Meghan wanted to do things differently from tradition with her pregnancy. The Duchess of Sussex has shown herself to be someone that draws outside of the royal lines, no matter how it affects her image. So, when she and Harry revealed they would be having a more private birth than people like Kate and Diana did, it wasn’t a huge shock. However, at the same time, it kind of was.

Breaking traditions

For decades, we’ve come to expect the royals to be very open about certain things. When they have children, it’s something that’s celebrated massively by the public, so the family has come to embrace that support. For Meghan to deny millions of people that opportunity to share her birth with them was like a slap in the face. At least, it was for some supporters out there.
