Even though deer can swim, fawn’s are known to struggle since they are not yet strong enough for the swift currents. Thus it is not surprising that there have been other rescues of drowning fawn. Lennon Schroeder was calmly fishing from the shore one day when he saw an object in the water. At first he thought it must be an aquatic animal such as a seal. As he got closer he realized that it was a baby deer struggling to stay afloat in the water.

Schroeder managed to help the dear to the shore, not an easy feat to do with a heavy and struggling animal. He then warmed the fawn in his arms, which also managed to calm it down. The fawn was then transferred to a nearby animal clinic.
