We’ve been saying Kaitlyn is Messalonskee’s sole cheerleader. That’s not entirely accurate. She was just the only cheerleader facing the crowd.

Because another sat in the stands, and was cheering on Kaitlyn herself. It was, of course, her mom, who is even able to join her daughter in the cheers. Since she’s been a cheerleader for four years, Kaitlyn said, her mom knows all of them by heart anyway. It was a simple decision to make, too. “I have to help support her any way I can,” her mom said.
