Did you know, for example, that the classic chant of “Sis boom rah!” dated to the first intercollegiate football game in 1869, pitting Princeton against Rutgers University? Speaking of, the famous Princeton Cheer, which is still in use today, was invented in 1877. Even more surprising, however, is the fact that cheerleading was a completely male-dominated sport, until women entered it in the 1940s when the men were off fighting World War Two.
